Building Stronger Together: NU-YAR’s August Team Training

On August 8, our entire NU-YAR crew came together for a full day of reflection, growth, and connection. As a company, we believe that our people are our greatest asset, and investing in their development is essential to building both exceptional projects and a thriving culture.


Grounding in Growth & Gratitude

The day began with a look back at how far we’ve come since our early days in 2020. In just five years, NU-YAR has completed 54 jobs and grown revenue by over 61% compared to this time last year. But more important than the numbers is the story behind them—loyalty, hard work, and the craftsmanship of every single person on the team.

I took a moment to honor individuals on our crew who embody what NU-YAR is all about—loyalty, positivity, skill, and teamwork. From those who have been with us since the beginning to our newest hires, each person plays a vital role in shaping who we are today.


Reflecting on Our Mission & Lessons Learned

The training gave us the chance to step back and revisit our mission, vision, and values. We also looked ahead at the projects already in motion for 2025 and discussed what we’ve learned so far this year—what worked, what could work better, and how we can keep improving as a team.


Sharing Highs & Lows

In small group reflections, each team member shared one personal or professional “high” and one “low” from 2025. This practice opened the door for deeper understanding and strengthened our bonds as a team.


Strategy, Growth & Vision

As a company, NU-YAR is committed to growing the right way—with quality, integrity, and teamwork at the core. We discussed our 2025 strategic objectives, explored what it means to “elevate” as a team, and shared individual goals for the remainder of the year. Looking ahead, we’ll be adding new office support and foremen positions to better manage growth and create leadership opportunities within the crew.


Tools for Better Communication & Collaboration

We also dove into DiSC training, giving our team tools to better understand communication styles and work more effectively together. Combined with updates on safety, standards, and field expectations, this session reinforced our commitment to professionalism and accountability on every jobsite.

Marketing, Community & Culture

Our crew brainstormed ways to contribute to NU-YAR’s growing presence in the community—whether through jobsite photos, testimonials, or wearing our NU-YAR shirts as a badge of pride. Together, we celebrated our involvement in local projects like the ROC build and recognized the power of showing up not just as builders, but as community leaders.


Takeaways, Team Spirit & A Little Fun

The day wrapped up with each participant sharing one takeaway from the training. From gratitude for the team to excitement about the future, it was clear that NU-YAR is more than just a workplace—it’s a place where people are growing, thriving, and building something bigger than themselves.

To celebrate a day of learning and connection, we capped things off with some fun at Bayside Bowl. Bowling together reminded us that while we take our work seriously, we also value laughter, camaraderie, and enjoying time as a team.
